So sometimes you need to talk about past years, like 2003, 2004, etc, and as I said one out loud recently, I remembered the very intense debate about how you should say it.

The two alternatives being "två tusen" ("Two thousand") or "tjugohundra" ("twenty hundred").

When I say the debate on it was intense in Sweden, I mean it. There were those who wanted to put into law how to say it, and certain big media companies made it an official policy to say it one way.

So now I'm wondering if the debate was just as intense outside of Sweden. Twenty hundred certainly sounds strange in English, but what about other languages?

Once we got out of the 2000s Sweden also started using, like, "twenty-twentyfive" etc, but the years 2000-2009? It was like people and their opinion on pineapple on pizza.
